Most global leaders recognize affordable, reliable energy as a top priority. Even anti-fossil universities and agencies are now hosting energy security forums. What changed? Nothing in terms of physics or economics. Coal and oil are still foundational in electricity and transportation, respectively, and natural gas remains the most versatile fuel, serving all major demand sectors. Nuclear is growing in China and Russia, and the world will follow. Hydro, wind, solar and other sources combined could satisfy 25% of primary energy in the next several decades. A diverse energy portfolio, led by hydrocarbons, is necessary to meet growing energy demand and provide secure energy to all humans. Is industry ready to meet the challenge?
