About ICE Rio 2025

The International Conference and Exhibition (ICE) is a flagship global conference organized by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the world’s premier geoscience association founded in 1917, with 25,000 members in 126 countries.

Held annually in strategic locations throughout the world, ICE includes a robust technical program, plenary sessions, country sessions and activities for students and young professionals.

ICE comes to the Latin America and Caribbean Region every three years, with the most recent editions held in  Cartagena (2013 and 2022), Cancun (2016) and Buenos Aires (2019).  Conferences held in Latin America include strong collaboration with the National Oil Companies (NOCs), regulatory agencies and geoscience societies based in the host country.

ICE Rio 2025 is hosted by Petrobras and the Brazilian Association of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and organized with local support from the Brazilian Association of Petroleum Geologists (ABGP).

The event convenes a global audience of technical professionals, decisionmakers, academics and government representatives working in both the traditional oil and gas sector as well as on energy transition and sustainable development initiatives.

ICE 2025 will address the dual challenge of meeting the world’s energy needs and making the transition to a low-carbon future while underscoring the importance of geoscience and the role of geoscientists in meeting both these objectives.
